Our company has 15+ years of experience cleaning oriental and area rugs. We love seeing some of the most unusual rugs, as well as rugs that were thought to be unclean-able due to extreme soiling conditions, come in to our facility; this is where we can really shine. 

We clean all types of rugs; including oriental rugs, persian, silk, wool, cotton, woven, rugs with fringe, and more. Our friendly and trained staff will come to your location to pick up your rug, free of charge, and transport it to our large rug cleaning plant located in Cornelius, NC. Having your rug cleaned in our plant allows us to give it several treatments for a more thorough cleaning, maximum soil & spot removal, controlled drying, and the use of various tools that are not available on location. Each rug will go through a 9-step rug cleaning process described below. Your rug will be left clean, soft, and ready for years of enjoyment. Our courteous staff will also place your rug upon delivery.

Pet Urine | Pet Odors: Many rugs we clean have pet urine/pet odor and we are highly trained to remove odors and stains. If a stain or odor is possible to be removed, we know how to do it! If your rug is hand washable, we can guarantee complete pet odor removal. Note: not all rugs are hand washable.

Professional 12-Step Rug Cleaning Process

Step 1: Pre-inspection and pickup

During the inspection process, we will determine the fiber type, soiling condition of the rug, and test for dye stability. We will record this information as this will tell us the best procedures for cleaning your rug. If your rug has fringe, we will clean it using several procedures. 

Step 2: Dry Soil Removal

Dry soil removal is the most important step in cleaning any textile. Woven rugs, especially hand knotted rugs are designed to hide dry soil. A few years ago, the Eureka company did a study and found that a 9 x 12 could hide 87 pounds of dirt! We use a variety of techniques to “dust” the rugs from the front and back. A machine called a pile lifter, special vacuum attachments, and many additional methods are implemented in this process. 

Step 3: Pre-Condition

Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.

Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Protection

Any potentially difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal. If your rug has a fringe, we will clean it using several procedures. It too be pre-treated for maximum soil removal.

Step 5: Deodorize

Now is the time we will apply our cleaning solution to guarantee complete odor removal. We will allow the cleaning solution to dwell and remove any unplesant odors, especially pet urine.

Step 6: Shampoo, Rinse, and Wash

Most rugs are cleaned with an Oriental Rug Shampoo that is especially designed to get maximum cleaning while protecting sensitive natural fibers. Depending on the type of rug, it will be rinsed with extraction equipment on both sides or washed in a wash pit designed especially for Oriental Rugs.

Step 7: Speed Dry

After the shampoo wash and rinse, the rug is dried flat or hung to dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid unnatural shrinkage and dye migration.

Step 8: Finishing

When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers made for specialty rugs.

(Optional Rug Protection)

While not required, we highly recommend having us apply a premium fiber protector to your rug. A fiber protectant will protect your rug from dry soil as well as spills and stains, which will keep your rug clean for a longer period of time.

Step 9: Post inspection and Delivery

Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for delivery. Your rug will be wrapped to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered. Upon delivery, we will lay the rug for you.
