Tips for cleaning Linoleum floors

Quick Cleaning

Requirements:

  • Rubber gloves (this is optional) –  Mild dish soap
  • Old towels –  Bucket
  • Hot Water – Vacuum cleaner
  • Mop (cloth or sponge – self-wringing is recommended)

Directions:

  1. Set the vacuum cleaner to “hard floor” and thoroughly vacuum the floor. Ensure that you focus on areas such as corners where dust can build up and under appliances and cabinets.
  2. Fill the bucket with 1 gallon of water and pour 5 or 6 drops of dish soap in it.
  3. Submerge the mop in the soapy water then wring thoroughly. (This will avoid the excess water from coming onto the floor.)
  4. Divide the floor into sections (about 5 x 5 inches per mop-dip) and mop each section one after the other. Rinse the mop in the soapy water and wring intensively before you wipe each section.
  5. After the mopping of the floor has been completed, rinse the mop exhaustively; fill it the bucket with clean hot water after emptying and rinsing it out.
  6. Place the mop in the hot water then wring it thoroughly. After that, rinse-mop each section of the floor with the hot water.
  7. Dry the floors with the old towels.
